Onboarding and Training Resources

Required Training

Staff and personnel involved with Case Investigation, Contact Tracing, and Resource Coordination efforts at Colorado’s local and state health departments are required to complete a core set of knowledge and skill-based training. Training Now Open! The training modules are now available (Register here).

A training track for each role has been created, with some common training across roles. Individuals with previous public health, health care, disease investigation, or care navigation experience may be able to test-out of some components of the training. Certificates of completion are available and required by Colorado’s local and state public health departments.

Topics covered in the training include:

  • Colorado’s Public Health System
  • COVID-19 information and recommendations
  • Forms and database information
  • HIPAA and confidentiality
  • Interview skills
  • Professional boundaries
  • Cultural responsiveness

The required training includes approximately 3-4 hours of self-paced, online training, followed by 3 hours of live, instructor-led skill practice, held via Zoom.
